Held in our glamorous Screening Room, Pop-Up Cinema is a series of movie screenings featuring our favorite classic Hollywood films. Cast on an expansive 16 ft. screen, the screenings are open to the public with small bites and drinks available from the Driftwood Room at happy hour prices for the duration of the film.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 27TH | “THE BIRDS”

In 1963, Alfred Hitchcock released “The Birds.” It has become a classic American horror-thriller film directed and produced by Alfred Hitchcock himself. It focuses on a series of sudden and unexplained violent bird attacks on the people of Bodega Bay, California, over the course of a few days. The film stars Rod Taylor and Tippi Hedren (in her screen debut), supported by Jessica Tandy, Suzanne Pleshette and Veronica Cartwright. In 2016, “The Birds” was deemed “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant” by the United States Library of Congress, and selected for preservation in its National Film Registry.

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 17TH | “SUNSET BOULEVARD”

This 1950’s Hollywood story is about an aging silent film queen (Gloria Swanson) who refuses to accept that her stardom has come to an end. She hires a young screenwriter to help set-up her movie comeback. The screenwriter believes he can manipulate her, but he soon finds out he is wrong. The screenwriter’s ambivalence about their relationship, and the actress’ unwillingness to let go, leads to a situation of violence, madness, and death.

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 8TH | “WHITE CHRISTMAS”

Singers Bob Wallace (Bing Crosby) and Phil Davis (Danny Kaye) join the musical sister act of Betty (Rosemary Clooney) and Judy Haynes (Vera-Ellen) to perform a Christmas show in rural Vermont. While there, they run into General Waverly (Dean Jagger), the boys’ commander in World War II, who, they learn, is having financial difficulties; his quaint country inn is failing. So what’s the foursome to do but plan a yuletide miracle?! This classic 1954 holiday film, is fun-filled musical extravaganza that’s sure to put General Waverly and his business back on the right track!
